Overview
Making GroupWise
Secure
GWAVA is the
market leader for making GroupWise secure and delivering the latest
technology to protect your GroupWise system from the inside out. As
the only product built exclusively with Novell APIs, and built to
run natively on NetWare, Linux & Windows, GWAVA protects email at
the POA, MTA and GWIA areas to ensure complete coverage against
virus outbreaks, SPAM attacks, and ensuring email surveillance.
GWAVA is unique by
providing comprehensive coverage from virus outbreaks through
integration of multiple Anti-Virus engines. This enables organizations
to reduce their dependence on a single Anti-Virus vendor response time
to virus outbreaks. Additionally, GWAVA blocks virus attacks at every
component within GroupWise to ensure that Internet Email and Internal
email is all completely protected.
GWAVA Anti-Virus
protection is the only solution that protects Novell GroupWise from the
inside out. GWAVA literally scans every single piece of email and all
its attachments that pass inside a GroupWise system, whether they
originate from off the Internet or inside your own corporation. This
means that GWAVA protects you like no other product can from email virus
attacks.
GWAVA and
Kaspersky - Working together to provide superior Anti-Virus protection
Every GWAVA
download and every GWAVA demo now comes with Kaspersky Anti-Virus
protection built in free for the first 30 days. Kaspersky is one of the
leading Anti-Virus solutions on the market. Together with GWAVA,
GroupWise customers now have maximum protection from Virus threats.
After 30 days of free use, if you are satisfied with Kaspersky, then you
are able to purchase it directly from GWAVA. Please
contact your
GWAVA sales representative or Channel partner for more information about
purchasing Kaspersky.
GWAVA Anti-Virus
protection is able to protect your GroupWise system by using up to three
Anti-Virus products simultaneously. GWAVA integrates seamlessly with a
number of Anti-Virus NLMs to scan all e-mail traffic-inbound and
outbound-for viruses. Because GWAVA operates at a low level in your
network architecture, Viruses are stopped before an outbreak can cost
you thousands of dollars in lost time and data.
If you are
currently using another vendor for anti-virus protection, you do not
need to use the bundled Kaspersky product. Visit HERE
for instructions on configuring other AV Scanners to be used with GWAVA
instead of KAV.
If you are already a GWAVA customer and want the Kaspersky protection,
contact us (the ecommerce site is only for new purchases).
A second line of
defense, Attachment Blocking offers blanket protection against file
attachment types typically associated with spreading viruses. Why wait,
for example, to find out a VBS script is a virus that even the
Anti-Virus vendors haven't caught up with yet? Block all VBS files with
GWAVA's Attachment Blocking and save yourself from battling the latest
viruses. Attachment Blocking controls content by stopping the flow of
attachment types that typically distract employees from their work-such
as MP3s and executable jokes/games. Specific file names can also be
blocked to keep important documents within the company. GWAVA's
attachment blocking options can stop specific filenames-such as
HAPPY99.EXE-as well as wildcard filenames and types-such as *.EXE or
HAPPY*, the latter blocking not only the HAPPY99.EXE but also the more
recent variant, HAPPY00.EXE. These settings are particularly useful in
stopping the spread of Visual Basic Scripts-*.VBS-which are commonly
propagated through email. Whether through wildcards or exact filenames,
the attachment blocking options are fully customizable to better protect
your network.
Many of the files in
transit via e-mail are quite large. A typical MP3 file is 3 to 5 MB.
GWAVA's Oversized Attachments filter limits the size of messages that
can be sent or received by people in your organization. Restricting
message size saves time and bandwidth.
Fingerprinting is a
means of identifying a file type without relying on the file extension.
Many email viruses will change the document file extension to fool an
Anti-Virus solution into thinking that the file is benign. GWAVA is able
to determine the type of file it is and block the file based on its
Fingerprint rather than on its file extension. This allows you to
protect your GroupWise from viruses that have not been released yet that
use a known format like .exe or .scr. The latest generation of viruses
show up cleverly disguised as other file types. GWAVA's new
Fingerprinting feature examines files to see what type they really are.
Many people have figured out that changing a file extension can help it
sneak past attachment blocking measures. Fingerprinting opens a file to
verify its file type, and can stop the flow of things like AVIs that
have been renamed as other file types. Save lost employee time and
bandwidth by using fingerprinting to control message content. GWAVA can
catch various attachments that are Windows Executables that have been
renamed. In the growing Linux world, RPMS can also be blocked. We can
also block exploits such as the recent MS JPEG exploit and the
password-protected zips produced by some viruses.
GWAVAs
MTA agent intercepts all messages passing through GroupWise MTAs. This
means all Internet mail as well as all internal mail that is inter-post
office (cross post offices) can be monitored and scanned real-time. In
addition, GWAVA offers a POA agent that can run at scheduled intervals
and be used to scan and quarantine viruses in the Post Office. (GWAVA
WASP can be used for additional WebAccess protection).
